Your first Gnosis class is a free introductory talk that runs for about one and a half to two hours, combining a lecture on the Gnostic teachings with a guided meditation practice. There is nothing to pay, nothing to sign, and no beliefs you are asked to accept — you simply come along, listen, and try the practice for yourself.
Before you arrive: how joining works
When a new course opens at one of our Gnostic centres across Melbourne and regional Victoria, it begins with a free introductory talk, usually at a public community venue such as a library or neighbourhood house. Registering with your local centre helps the organisers know how many seats to prepare, and it is also how the venue details are shared with you. Registration carries no obligation: if you decide the classes are not for you, that is the end of it.
The format: a talk and a practice
Most classes run from 1.5 to 2 hours and have two parts. The first is a talk on one topic from the Gnostic teachings — subjects such as consciousness, the Level of Being, meditation, or the nature of the ego. The second is a guided practice, usually a relaxation and meditation exercise you can repeat at home during the week. Gnosis is a practical school: every idea presented in the talk is meant to be verified in your own experience, and the practice is where that begins.
What you won’t be asked to do
You will not be asked to adopt any belief, join anything, or pay to attend an introductory talk. Gnosis is a path of self-knowledge, not a religion, and people of any faith or none study with us. If you continue past the introductory classes into the weekly course, classes run on a contribution basis — a suggested $15 a week that helps cover venue costs — and difficulty paying never prevents anyone from attending.
What you’ll study from the first weeks
The introductory course works through a 33-lecture program: esoteric psychology, practical meditation, Kabbalah, alchemy, dreams and astral projection, karma, and the common thread running through the world’s spiritual traditions. You can browse the full list of topics we study before you come.
Finding a class near you
We hold weekly classes at six centres — Frankston, Pascoe Vale South and Vermont South in Melbourne, and Ballarat, Bendigo and Geelong in regional Victoria — with courses also running in other towns from time to time.
