Gnosis is a Greek word meaning knowledge of an intuitive nature — the direct apprehension of spiritual truths. It isn't belief or theory learned from books, but wisdom discovered through your own inner experience. This free introductory course in Melbourne's eastern suburbs explores that knowledge through practical psychology, philosophy, and meditation. Learn more about what Gnosis is.
Across the course we explore four threads of inner knowledge: psychology (the essence, ego and personality), ontology (the nature of being and our Level of Being), esotericism (meditation, alchemy and the awakening of consciousness), and cosmology (our place within creation and the laws that govern it). Each class builds on the last through direct, practical experience.
You can see the full list of topics we study, drawn from the teachings of Samael Aun Weor.
This introductory course suits anyone seeking deeper self-awareness, psychological insight, and an understanding of the spiritual principles shaping our lives. Whether you're new to esoteric study or have explored meditation and philosophy before, you're welcome. No prior experience, religion, or belief is required — only an open and curious mind.
The initial introductory talks are free. This gives you the chance to explore the Gnostic teachings and see whether they speak to something within you, with no cost or obligation.
If you choose to continue afterwards, we suggest a contribution of $15 to $20 per class, where possible, to help cover our costs and expenses. That said, if you're not in a position to contribute, you're still very welcome to attend. We believe everyone should be able to take part in these classes, regardless of their financial circumstances.
No. You don't need any prior experience, and the course requires no adherence to any religion or belief system. Gnosis is explored through direct personal experience rather than dogma. You can also join even if you've missed the first week or two, each class stands on its own while building toward the whole.
The first two classes (2 and 9 July) are held at Mount Street Neighbourhood House, Glen Waverley — a public venue with parking, easy to reach from Wheelers Hill, Mount Waverley, and Burwood East. From 16 July, weekly classes continue at a private home in Wantirna, in Melbourne's eastern suburbs. The Wantirna address is shared with you when you register.
These classes are run by the Vermont South Gnostic Centre, part of our weekly Gnosis classes across Melbourne.
First 2 weeks free.
$15-20/week afterwards.
