Gnosis Course in Vermont South

Introductory Talk on Gnosticism & its Universal Principles

Ongoing Course on Gnosis

Next Class: Thursday 27 May 2021

For those who are interested in meditation, awakening of consciousness, cultivation of an inner spiritual work, practical esotericism, transmutation of energies, esoteric psychology, the work upon the ego (false self), and the search for divinity within ourselves.

The Australian Gnostic Association of Melbourne is an esoteric school that offers classes and courses in esoteric studies. We hold as our basic foundation the knowledge of oneself as the way to penetrate into the mysteries of nature and the divine. The gnostic teachings offer classes and practices to assist the student to find their own self-gnosis, self knowledge, as a way to gain personal and intimate insight into their own psychological and spiritual reality.

About Our Gnostic & Meditation Classes

The Gnostic knowledge is one that does not require you to practice some ancient belief system or religion. It is a contemporary tradition that aims at developing all of our human and spiritual possibilities. We study the wisdom of both east and west in a comprehensive, didactic way, unlike many other forms of spirituality that focuses on one specific tradition alone. The Gnostic classes present us with the study and the practice of a set of universal principles of self-discovery and inner development. Such principles are found in the philosophies, sciences, arts and spiritual traditions of human cultures throughout history.

Gnosis is a vast and profound science for actualising deep, lasting internal change. As we seek to demonstrate in our lectures, this knowledge has been present throughout all mystical traditions. We study the nature of the complete human being through a variety of perspectives and subjects, in addition with a wide variety of psychological, esoteric and mystical topics.

The outline of the course we offer is given below. It is a weekly course consisting of a lecture and meditation practice. Each lesson builds on each other to serve as a foundation for further study of esotericism. The practices aim to understand and build on the science and ethics of meditation in a more in-depth manner.

Anyone is welcome to attend. However, as the classes and practices build on one another, consistent weekly attendance is recommended. If you decide not to continue with the classes at any point, you are completely free to stop attending with no further obligations.

FAQ

What do the classes cost?
The Australian Gnostic Association of Melbourne is a not for profit organisation, with all costs being covered by the facilitators of the centre and the group. We recommend a set weekly contribution $10/wk to help us to cover the costs of running the centre and the courses. Although the inability to pay will never prevent anyone from attending the courses, the contributions help in the running of the centre, and are greatly appreciated. Our aim is not profit, but to share gnosis with anyone who is interested, regardless of race, religion, sex, occupation or wealth.
What is the format of the classes?
Most classes go from 1.5hrs to 2hours, with each class consisting of a talk and a guided meditation practice. Practices range from introductory techniques for relaxation and meditation, to keys that can be applied in daily life. No previous experience is needed. The weekly classes and practices serve as a foundation to further develop the science and ethics of meditation in a more in depth manner.

Gnosis at it’s heart is a purely practical school, and consists of a wide variety of esoteric and psychological practices that compliment the theoretical knowledge that is given for the purpose that that which is taught can be verified by the student, thus allowing the student to attain their own.

What kind of commitment do the classes require?
As far as attendance to the introductory classes, anyone is welcome to attend one, several or all of the classes being offered in the series of public talks. For those who are interested, a weekly course will continue which will go deeper into the topics that have been introduced. Since the classes and practices build on each other, consistent weekly attendance is expected for those who decide to continue with the classes. If you decide you do not want to continue with the classes at any point in time, you are free to do so with no further obligations. If we do not hear from you, you will not hear from us. This is done to respect your privacy.
